Three receipts, three timelines, one anxious client.
Companions move first
The work permit and travel document are often decided months before the I-485 itself. Each change is a separate status on a separate receipt.
Interviews need prep
Many adjustment cases are interviewed. The notice gives a set date, and clients need time to gather documents and prepare.
Transfers are silent
I-485s are often moved between USCIS offices. A transfer changes who decides the case but sends no alert to anyone.
Following an I-485 from receipt to card
- 01
Import the whole package
Add the I-485 and its companion receipts with the client's name, so a search shows the full package.
- 02
Daily checks on each receipt
Every receipt is checked against USCIS each day, so a companion approval is never hidden behind a quiet I-485.
- 03
Alerts at each stage
Biometrics, interview notices, RFEs, approvals and card updates go to the people on your team who asked for them.
Built around the adjustment process
Appointment alerts
Biometrics and interview scheduling, rescheduling and cancellations are flagged as appointment updates.
RFE alerts
Requests for evidence on the I-485 or any companion filing are flagged on the day of the daily check that finds them.
Transfer visibility
When a case moves to another office, the new status appears in the case history.
Card updates
See when the green card is produced and mailed, so you can tell the client before they ask.
Package search
Search by client name to see the I-485, I-765, I-131 and underlying petition together.
Status history
Every status each receipt has had, with the date USCIS posted it.
The stages of an I-485 case, and what to watch
Receipt and biometrics
After filing, USCIS issues a receipt notice for the I-485 and for each companion form. A biometrics appointment usually follows. Once fingerprints are taken, the online status often shows that they were recorded. If the client missed or needs to reschedule the appointment, the status can show that too, and that is worth catching early.
Work permit and travel document
The I-765 and I-131 filed with an I-485 are decided separately and often sooner. For many clients, the work permit card is the first real result, and they will ask about it constantly. Tracking the companion receipts lets your team answer with confidence.
Interview, RFE or decision
Some I-485s are decided without an interview and some are not. When an interview is scheduled, the status changes and a notice follows by mail. An RFE can arrive at any point. A daily check gives your team the earliest practical warning of either, so preparation starts before the letter lands.
Approval and the card
After approval, the status moves through card production and mailing. Returned or undeliverable cards are flagged separately, because USCIS does not hold undelivered cards forever.
Questions firms ask us
Can we track the I-765 and I-131 filed with the I-485?+
Yes. Each companion has its own receipt number, and each is tracked and checked separately. Search by client name to see them together.
Will we know when an I-485 interview is scheduled?+
Yes. Interview and biometrics scheduling, rescheduling and cancellations trigger appointment alerts for anyone on your team who turned them on.
Does CaseTracker show I-485 processing times?+
No. CaseTracker reports each case's actual status from USCIS. It doesn't estimate processing times.
What if the green card is returned to USCIS?+
Returned and undeliverable statuses have their own alert type, so your team can act before the card is destroyed.
Can we try it before paying?+
Yes. Every account starts with a 14-day free trial for up to 20 cases, no credit card needed. Plans after that are $100 a month for up to 120 active cases and $150 a month for up to 400, with custom pricing above that.
