Clients feel every day of a work permit wait.
Income depends on it
Clients may not be able to work until the card arrives, so they ask often and they ask early.
Approval isn't the card
After approval the card still has to be produced, mailed and delivered. Each step is a separate status.
Cards go missing
A wrong address or failed delivery sends the card back to USCIS. Catching that quickly is the difference between a quick fix and a long delay.
Tracking work permits end to end
- 01
Import the I-765s
Add receipt numbers for initial, renewal and replacement applications, alone or alongside an I-485 or asylum case.
- 02
Daily checks
Each application is checked against USCIS every day, through approval, production and mailing.
- 03
Know before the client asks
Approvals and card updates show up on the dashboard, and returned cards trigger an alert straight away.
Built for work permit caseloads
Card status updates
Production, mailing and USPS handoff each appear as status changes, so you can give clients a real answer.
Returned card alerts
Returned and undeliverable cards have their own alert type, because USCIS does not hold them forever.
Approval alerts
Know the day of the check that finds an approval.
RFE alerts
Evidence requests on work permit applications are flagged for your team.
Linked cases
Track the I-765 alongside the I-485, asylum or other case it depends on.
Client status links
Send a client a read-only link to their work permit status instead of answering the same question again.
The life of an I-765 work permit application
Receipt and biometrics
After filing, USCIS issues a receipt notice. Some applicants are scheduled for biometrics; others have them reused from another filing. The application then waits for a decision.
Approval to card in hand
Approval is followed by several card statuses. The online status shows when the card is being produced, when it is mailed, and often when the Postal Service picks it up, sometimes with a tracking number. These are the updates clients care about most.
When a card is returned
If the card can't be delivered, it goes back to USCIS and the status says so. Firms should act quickly, usually by confirming the client's address with USCIS, because undeliverable cards are not kept indefinitely.
Questions firms ask us
Can we see when the card is mailed?+
Yes. Card production, mailing and Postal Service pickup are all USCIS statuses, and each change is recorded in the case history.
Will we be warned if a card is returned?+
Yes. Returned and undeliverable statuses trigger their own alert for anyone on your team who has turned them on.
Do you track renewal EADs?+
Yes. Any I-765 with a receipt number can be tracked: initial, renewal or replacement.
Does CaseTracker remind us when a client's EAD is about to expire?+
No. CaseTracker tracks USCIS case status. It doesn't track card expiration dates.
Can we try it before paying?+
Yes. Every account starts with a 14-day free trial for up to 20 cases, no credit card needed. Plans after that are $100 a month for up to 120 active cases and $150 a month for up to 400, with custom pricing above that.
